Lab Report: A Site We Built Went From 13 Pages in Google to 83 in Eight Weeks

Chart: pages of a home builder's website appearing in Google search each week rose from 13 to 83 in eight weeks

The short version: on a website we designed and built for a modular home builder, we published 60 pages pairing each service with a town it delivers to. In eight weeks the number of the site’s pages appearing in Google each week went from 13 to 83, and weekly search appearances rose 32%. The site’s average position did not change. This report shows the weekly numbers.

We built this client’s website and run its SEO. We don’t name clients on our site.

What we built

The site has six service pages and, under them, 60 pages that pair a service with a town: one page for each place the builder delivers to. Each page answers a search that names both the service and the town. The structure was planned when the site was designed, so every one of those pages has a parent page linking to it and a place in the menu.

How we measured

SearchGoogle Search Console, weekly, August 10 to September 28, 2026 (eight weeks; the first week is a partial week of data)
VisitsGoogle Analytics, all sources, same weeks
Map positionAverage position in Google Maps across the builder’s tracked searches

  • Pages appearing: an average of 21 a week in the first four weeks, 67 in the last four.
  • Search appearances: 2,572 a week in the last four weeks against 1,942 in the three full weeks before them, 32% more.
  • Visits: more than 9,000 every four weeks from all sources.
  • Map: an average first position for its tracked searches throughout.
  • AI assistants: 29 visits arrived from ChatGPT over the summer, a small number that did not exist a year ago.

What did not move

  • Average position stayed near 11. The new pages entered search around the bottom of page one and the top of page two. They widened what the site shows for. They did not lift it.
  • Clicks from search were level at about 30 a week once the first partial week is set aside.
  • Website clicks from the Google profile fell through the window, from about 130 a week to about 85. Home buying has a season.

What this means when you plan a website

  • Plan the pages before the design. A site built with a place for every service and town can grow by 60 pages without a rebuild.
  • Coverage comes first, clicks second. In eight weeks the site went from showing a dozen pages to more than 80. Turning those appearances into visits is the next stage of the work.
  • A fast, well-structured site gets new pages found quickly. Most of the 60 were appearing in search within weeks.

Limits

  • One site, eight weeks, one of them partial. It is a record of what happened, not a controlled test.
  • This shows a site we built at work today. It is not a comparison with the site it replaced.
  • Visits are counted from every source, not search alone, and we do not have enquiry data for this site.
